Dutch Sephardic country houses on TV

In the early modern period, the Dutch Republic was unique in Europe: in some regions Jews could own land here, and even build splendid country houses. This was the case for example in Maarssen, the summer idyll for the Portuguese elite of Amsterdam during the eighteenth century. De Joodse wereld ('The Jewish World')  a TV programme broadcast by Dutch national broadcaster NPO, covered this history, featuring JCH affiliated researcher Dr Sietske van der Veen (University of Amsterdam).
