Jewish Heritage in Southern England

Last year, Marcus Roberts pioneered the first JCH tours for Cheshire Bn’ei Brith . We are delighted that this year Jewish Renaissance is offering a series of online lectures and day trips focusing on Jewish heritage in southern England, with a strong JCH dimension.

On Wednesday 17 May, Abigail Green will be highlighting the work of the project and the way in which it seeks to draw attention to the often overlooked Jewish stories within English heritage sites. Tom Stammers and Jaclyn Granick will be exploring the role the Jewish country house played in both the political life of the Jewish elite and the sphere of Jewish philanthropic activism (Wednesday 31 May).

Day trips offered include Ightham Mote in Kent, the city of Winchester, and Nymans, once home of the Messel family in Sussex, as well as other fascinating lectures.
